Today, after over 6 years of involvement with the CubeWorld community I retire from my last moderator position. Here is my story

for reference, my reddit name is "chris20194" but in cubeworld I mostly went by the names "BLACKROCK" and later "LastExceed"

It all started in the early days when I created my first character 3 weeks after release of the game. Back then I didn't interact with other cw players at all, I just played singleplayer grinding red items from seeds I found online. I still have that savefile to this very day. Only much later I eventually discovered pvp servers and started playing on ClearCutGaming every day until it went down. I then switched to Herocube and then BestKnownGame where I first became relevant in the CubeWorld community by acquiring the helper rank. I was on trial for admin, but got into a fight with Smokyy and Belea (admins of BKG during that time) because of my CheatEngine shenanigans and ended up leaving the server entirely. I then moved to FoxDev and continued there where I received the most epic ban message I've seen to date:

You have been banned for: godmode, teleport hacks, shooting lasers and throwing fucking rocks. this and that. what are you, a wizard? You should appeal. (the proof of that ban is lost in time as the FoxDev forums are gone, but I recall the wording very vividly)

For the record, I didn't actually use cheats for pvp but simply enjoyed showing off what I could do with CheatEngine, I explained this in the appeal to get unbanned and later became admin on the server as well as on discord and forums because of my extensive technical knowledge about the game. I also set up the Halloween event on Zircon Realms (the biggest and longest running pve server in CubeWorld history) at some point in time. I was very active on reddit where I reported about my CheatEngine findings or commented on other posts. I am probably most known here for maintaining this post that was pinned on the sub for over 3 years until the update dropped. Being that active on reddit eventually caught the attention of Jay (founder of discord.gg/cubeworld) and lead to me becoming a mod on the now partnered discord. At some point I got into a fight with Rev (owner of FoxDev) because I wrote a bot for CubeWorld and gave him my admin permissions to auto-moderate the server while I wasnt online and IMO he was being an absolute dick about it so I decided to step down from my position which led to the permanent shutdown of FoxDev 2 hours later. I then moved on to start the Exceed project which was supposed to become a new non-cuwo pvp server. A year later I had the first test runs with up to 10 people online at a time, but unfortunately I fell into depression and never finished the project. This was the point in time where I stopped being active and only lurked, occasionally responding to pings or giving my opinion on drama situations in the staff channel. With my depression getting worse and worse I pretty much stopped interacting with the cubeworld community, and now that the new update is finally here, I've completely lost interest in the game. I haven't even played the new version yet. The Exceed project is dead and all the servers I used to play on (FoxDev, BKG, HeroCube, ClearCutGaming, Zircon Realms) are gone forever. I even got demoted on discord to helper rank due to my inactivity which was a big hit for me emotionally since the rank was the only thing left from this 6 year long history, but I eventually realized that it is more than time for me to move on already. I talked to Axtor (who is now leading the discord, and he set me up with an "Alumni" role which helped me letting go of the moderator role.

And here we are, over 6 years later, and it's finally time to say goodbye. Maybe one day when I have fully beaten my depression I'll return, but until then I'd like to take this opportunity to immortalize the names of some noteworthy people I met throughout the years:

Camemberta for winning the first (and probably only) pvp tournament in cubeworld (I came in 4th place, but was the highest ranked Warrior at least)
Fulcnix for being the sweetest person I've ever met. She moderated FoxDev and later the Exceed discord with me
